Ivy Smith—who is now Aunty Ivy to me and my daughters—has been a constant source of strength and guidance for my family during our most challenging times. After losing my daughter to an accidental overdose, I started a foundation in her honor with the mission: “We don’t leave anyone behind.” This mission reflects the experience I’ve had for over a decade with Aunty Ivy, who has never left me or my family behind, no matter how difficult the circumstances.

My family has faced immense hardships, including another daughter battling addiction and one fighting anxiety from the weight of our struggles, often with limited support. Through using her own funds and with limited resources, Aunty Ivy has tirelessly offered us a lifeline. Her deeply compassionate, solution-based models have not only helped us heal but have also given us hope. Her approach addresses the whole person, the family, and the community, creating lasting change where it is needed most.
